đ A Love Note to the Perfectionist, the Former Athlete, + the Woman who thinks it doesnât count unless sheâs crawling away:
You Know Itâs Not âAll or Nothingââ So Why Are You Still Acting Like It?
YES, YOU.
You know itâs not supposed to be all or nothing.
Youâve read the posts. Youâve nodded along when people talk about balance.
Youâve probably even said it to a friendââprogress over perfection!!â
And yetâŚ
even when we intellectually know itâs not âall or nothing,â old programming runs so strong. Especially for perfectionists and former athletes whose identities were built around performance, pressure, and pain = gain.
If your schedule isnât wide open, your house isnât clean, youâre not in the mood to go all inâ
you do nothing.
You wait for the perfect window. The perfect plan. The perfect version of you thatâs highly motivated and fully energized and ready to commit flawlessly.
I get it.
Especially if youâre an athlete, high achiever, or someone whoâs used to being praised for pushing through. You were taught that anything less than intense, full-out effort doesnât count.
That training is supposed to hurt. That itâs not a ârealâ workout unless you're sore for days.
That rest is earned. That anything short of perfection isnât worth doing at all.
But hereâs the truthâŚ
đ¨Perfectionism is whatâs keeping you stuckđ¨
Not inconsistency. Not laziness. Not lack of motivation.
(If you donât think youâre a perfectionist but you consider yourself a procrastinator, Iâve got newsâŚ.youâre a perfectionist. Itâs why you procrastinateâŚ)
That âgo big or go homeâ mindset sounds empowering
...until it keeps you from showing up at all.
If youâve been living in extremes, no wonder youâre exhausted.
And let me ask you something - honestly:
Is it working for you now?
How long has it been since this HAS worked for you?
Life looks different today, doesnât it?
You have more on your plate. Movement isnât embedded into your life. You donât have a team or a coach. Youâre not gifted a ton of free time. Maybe youâre raising a whole kid or three. Maybe youâre a devoted dog mom or you work insane hours.
Deep down, you know itâs time to shift.
Not because youâre giving up.
But because youâre getting wise.
Youâre not lazy or broken or incapableâyouâre stuck using old programming
(okay & maybe youâre a little scared).
Scared that doing less means becoming less.
Scared that you specifically are not capable of getting results if you show up without pushing past your limits constantly.
The truth is:
â
What you need is consistency, in bite-sized chunks.
â
What you need is a plan that works on your most chaotic daysânot just your best ones.
â
What you need is to practice showing up imperfectlyâand letting that be enough.
Hereâs what real commitment looks like:
You move your body even when the stars donât align.
You trade the âperfect planâ for one you can actually follow (hint: it can be structured, but it cannot be rigid).
You redefine strengthânot as intensity, but as follow-through.
You stop starting over because you never really stopped.
Thereâs nothing wrong with training hard.
But if hard is the only way you know how to trainâŚ
If soreness is the only way you know how to measure progressâŚ
If âperfectâ is your only definition of commitmentâŚ
Then maybe itâs time to write a new story.
And look at the new research because, for women 30+, itâs been proven we need LESS sustained intensity (this means NOT the insane workouts).
If youâre ready to live that outâ not just know it intellectually in a faraway land inside the depths of your mind, but practice itâIâm here to help you do exactly that.
This is the work I do with women every single day.
